"I only recently began investing in good hair cuts. For a while, I simply didn't care. Then I convinced myself that my crew cut was simple and standard: it didn't matter who did it or how much I paid. At a certain point, though, I realized that: a) I was never really satisfied with my hair, and; b) I was paying more for a bottle of face moisturizer than I was for my hair cut. It was time to get a a big boy haircut.....

I had walked by Milano a lot and admired the layout. It looked nice, downright out of place for Allston, and I wondered about the quality of the cuts. The reviews on Yelp were pretty good, but there weren't very many to go by. Then one day, a shocking 9 weeks from my last cut, I decided to give it a try. I made an appointment with Andy, the head stylist.

Andy took me late, around 7. At that hour, I would be unpleasant and aching to get home, but Andy seemed fresh and friendly. The salon was as nice on the inside as it appeared from the outside. Very modern, but also laid back and comfortable. That's a big plus for me, because I'm not usually comfortable in salons. What can I say, I'm a dude.

Andy understood what I wanted right away. I get a pretty typical crew cut. I like it short, but I need enough length to flick it up in the front or just mess it up a little. It's standard, but that doesn't mean it's easy. Most people don't realize that it's often harder to cut men's hair. It's hard to cut hair very short with scissors, and short cuts make the mistakes harder to cover up.

Unlike 99% of my previous haircuts, I like it right away. Very versatile, and I felt like I liked it any way that I styled it. Usually I struggle with frustration for the few week or two. It's now been about 6 weeks and I have never been unhappy with my hair. That is rare. In short, I'll definitely be heading back to Milano." ~ Andrew

"This is hands down the best salon I've been to in Boston." ~ Thid

"I hadn't gotten my hair cut in an embarrassingly long time, since my usual stylist currently resides in Atlanta, GA. I was putting off getting my hair cut again until I headed back there, but when my boyfriend told me he also needed a cut, I gave in and began looking for stylists in the Boston area. As college students, one of our main criteria was finding a well-reviewed salon with a great price tag.

The salon, miraculously, has Sunday hours, and making a same-day appointment was a snap. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful, and even managed to get me and my BF in at the same time! My stylist was Andy and his was Ozzy, and I have to say that both of them are nothing less than artists! I went from having more than ten inches of hair to having the sassiest, sexiest shoulder-length style I could have imagined, and my boyfriend's style is equally amazing.

In short: if you have a college student's budget but still want one of the best hair cuts of your life, head down to Milano Salon! And ask for Andy or Ozzy. ;)" ~Caitlin

"Allston finally has a Spa/Salon with some class. I was drawn in by their aesthetically designed studio, and Ozzy's smile behind the desk was something I just couldn't ignore.
I got my hair cut by Phyllis - who is also a stylist at some other top salons in the Comm-Ave area. Phyl (as she is popularly known in the studio) listened patiently as I explained what I wanted - and voila, she gave me a fantastic do. I am one month into it and I still get compliments. It was a fairly bold step for me to try to get my hair done short, and Phyl was right on.
When I told her I had to go to a party, she even put in some extra products in my hair, and re-checked it for me after I was done with my Pedicure." ~Rachana
